Hello, I’m Caroline – Complementary Therapist and Manager at Tiger Health Spa. I recently moved back to Wales and returned to the Spa, having spent the last four years working within the NHS as a Complementary Therapist.
I studied the BSc (Hons) in Complementary Therapies at Cardiff Metropolitan University during which I qualified in holistic massage, Reflexology and clinical Aromatherapy. During this time I was also working at Tiger Health Spa as a trainee to gain experience. I soon realised I wanted to specialise and work to provide treatments for people with acute and chronic illnesses. I undertook additional training in massage and aromatherapy in cancer, dementia and palliative care contexts.
Upon graduating I secured a job as Complementary Therapies Co-ordinator at the George Eliot Hospital and Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. This role involved providing treatments for patients with cancer and life limiting illnesses. Through my experience I have developed a deep appreciation of the value of Complementary Therapies in helping to support patients throughout the course of their illnesses.
From my work in Nuneaton I was invited to teach a series of workshops in China on the use of aromatherapy massage in cancer care and the benefits of massage for the elderly.
Upon returning to the Spa I hope to use my knowledge and experience to develop a Complementary Therapy cancer service for patients and carers. Many spas are hesitant to treat people with a diagnosis of cancer and life limiting illnesses however, when applied appropriately by a properly trained therapist Complementary Therapies can have a powerful effect on a person’s wellbeing and quality of life.
I am happy to be back in Cardiff and proud to return to Tiger Health Spa as Manager. It is a fantastic place to work. All our therapists are dedicated, passionate and strive to ensure the best quality of treatments in a friendly, relaxed environment.
I look forward to meeting and treating you at the spa.
